ABOUT MATTHEW SCHARPF SONGWRITER
Matthew Scharpf is a Chicago-based songwriter and performer whose music has been touching hearts for more than 30 years. Blending heartfelt lyrics with memorable melodies, his music spans themes of family, history, relationships, and the everyday characters who shape our lives.
Growing up in a close-knit family, his father a U.S. Army lieutenant colonel and his mother a teacher and artist, Matt was shaped by strong values, faith, and a love of learning. Early on, he discovered his gift for guitar, drums, and songwriting, and he has spent decades honing his craft and sharing his talents with audiences of all ages.
While raising his own family, Matt stepped back from pursuing music full time, but never stopped creating. He continued performing regularly with longtime friend Lou Leone (UD ’92) and The Bad Dads, hosting songwriter nights, and playing charity concerts for A Leg To Stand On.
With his daughters now grown and his solo record All That I’ve Left released, he has returned to his music career with renewed energy.
Today, Matt lives out his musical passion by performing his original songs at house concerts and intimate venues, writing custom songs for artists and personalized gifts, and hosting a Nashville-style songwriter’s night.
To date, Matthew has written more than 140 songs and produced 35 studio tracks, with more releases on the horizon. His artistic goal is simple yet ambitious: to connect deeply through music and ultimately hear his songs sung by nationally recognized artists.

Hosting a house concert is simple: invite a group of friends, pick a date, and work with us to plan the details. You can pair the music with whatever adds to the experience—coffee and tea, wine and cheese, or a full potluck.
